The “strip” of restaurants on the beach basically all offers similar fare and can become very busy in weekends and during summer.

What makes Terraza A Babor stand out is their terrace with seats in the full sun as well as in the shade.

They are open all day, every day and you can come here for a drink, a snack (tapas) or a full meal, for example the paella.

Las Cuevas

If you don’t know it is there, you could easily walk past Las Cuevas; one good reason why we list a photo of the entrance.

Once you enter, you will find yourself in a labyrinth of inter connected rooms, caves if you wish, which is the translation of las cuevas.

They offer an enormous variety of tapas and it is possible to eat them at the bar in the entrance area or you can take place in the “catacombes” (table areas) further in the back of the restaurant.

One thing to remember is to make reservations, especially in the weekend!

El Rall

Although of the beaten track, right behind La Lonja, the Silk Exchange, El Rall is one of the famous restaurants for domestic and international tourists in Valencia.

They offer all kinds of tapas, all paellas and rices you can think of, and other Valencian and Spanish delicacies.

The terrace of El Rall is quite popular in spring and summer, but bookings are preferred as the restaurant itself is quite small.

Culmen Restaurante prides itself in offering good food combined with good wines.

Among a set breakfast and a set lunch and of course a la carte, they also offer each day a traditional dish prepared with products bought fresh from the Mercado Central. Their kitchen is described as Spanish creative “cocina de mercado” – seasonal cuisine with fresh produce of the season.

They offer creative food in a jazzy atmosphere and throughout the week they have a menu del dia of EUR 40.

Cafeteria Kansas offers a lot more than you would expect!

Kansas offers Spanish and Valencian specialties such as tapas and paella, and they also have a complete selection of bocadillos and an extensive pizza menu.

As soon as the sun is shining the terrace in front of the Cathedral on Plaza de la Reina is an excellent place to relax and enjoy your coffee, lunch, snack or even dinner.

Babalú

Babalú describes itself as a restaurant, bar and chill out place and it has indeed a lot to offer.

First of all the restaurant has a broad cuisine from Cuban dishes to fusion Caribbean to the Spanish paella and tapas.

Babalú is located just next to the Plaza Redonda that is undergoing renovations at the time of writing. It’s in a side street of one of the streets leading off the Plaza and they have a good visible sign at the entrance to the street, that is how we found it too.

They offer a couple of Cuban and Caribbean specialties such as picadillos (Cuban ground beef dishes) and tostones (Caribbean fried banana) and they also do typical Spanish tapas and Valencian food such as paella.

Their menu of the day for EUR 9 is available both for lunch and dinner from Mon-Thu, on other days just for lunch. It includes an appetizer, a main course, a dessert or coffee or tea and a drink.

Then they have an extensive cocktail list with mojitos, daiquiris, caiprinhas, margaritas among others.

In Paris Babalú also has a restaurant so Valencia is their second base.

Bar Pilar

Bar Pilar has been founded in 1917 and with that is one of the oldest establishments in Valencia.

They specialize in “Clochinas”, mussels prepared the Valencian way. Furthermore they offer typical Spanish and Valencian tapas like montaditos, calamares, patatas bravas, pepitos and habas.
